2010 Chevy Volt

Now that’s Electric:Introducing the Chevy Volt.Unless you are an ostrich in the Detroit Zoo, with your head stuck in the sand, you have heard about the dire predictions of economic gloom for the General Motors Corp. To believe the news is to believe that the giant of American automobile makers will drop over the cliff at any moment. But, in fact, assuming that GM can weather the storm of the current economic crunch, the company is well-positioned to perform swimmingly, heading into the second decade of the twenty-first century. Why? It is all thanks to the Chevrolet Volt.
The Volt was the star of the 2008 Detroit auto show—GM’s effort to leap-frog Toyota in the electrical car market. Touted by GM as an “Extended-Range Electric Vehicle,” the flashy new car has a “propulsion system [that] is so revolutionary, it’s unlike any other vehicle or electric car that’s ever been introduced.” And GM stands by its promise to have the car ready to purchase by 2010, just in time to help America and the world out of the economic crisis and into a cleaner, greener future—at least that’s what the Detroit auto maker’s executives hope.
